Owl City-Fireflies, it is a beautiful song by Adam Young, thanks to AA for playing this song during the lunch break. Now I can listen to some new songs from the Owl Project album. The lyrics of the song are so good. The name, FireFlies, reminded me of my first encounter with fireflies during the second year of my college life at IIT.
It was a warm evening and after having snacks we went for a walk on the lonely roads along TC. We reached the gate which is rarely used for commuting. Other side of the gate , there is a road along a hill,which was dark and only light we could use was the one coming from our cellphone screens. I should tell you that the sun sets very early in Guwahati .
I remember one of my friends Bharath had a Sony Ericsson phone on which he was playing the song " Ee gali lo " from the movie Notebook(telugu). That was the first time I heard that song and I immediately liked it. While I was appreciating the music and the beautiful voice of the singer, they suddenly appeared, the FireFlies, a bunch of tiny glowing things flying in the air right in front of me. It was a visual feast to me, I kept staring at them, thinking how could such tiny creatures produce light. It was an original 3D experience which I could only match it later in Avatar.
I have never been to country side or woods, where it would be completely dark to actually see this fireflies glowing. So it was my first encounter with FireFlies and most memorable sight. After listening to this song today afternoon, it took me back to my college days and made me post this even at this late hour in the night.
